This also has a 2” (50mm)                     drain connection. Benefits:      A fully automatic system which is recycling the chlorinated water. Protecting the pumps and analyser. JW BOLLOMS LIMITED Company:    JW Bolloms Limited Application: Filtering solvent-based hardener used for mixing into concrete solution to accelerate hardening of the cement. Problem:     They require a filtration system located in the plant between the final mixing process and the filling lines. It had to                     be user friendly, environmentally acceptable and maintain a continuous flow operation. The solvent was at ambient                     temperature with a viscosity of approximately 1 poise. The line pressure is 3 bar with a flow of 30 gal/min. The                    degree filtration is 25 micron. Solution:     A Model 200 low pressure, stainless steel manual model has been installed fitted with differential pressure indicators. Benefits:      Improved work environment. Bag filters replaced with enclosed model. The output increased with no down time. RONCRAFT (RONSEAL PRODUCTS) Company:    Roncraft (Ronseal Products) Major manufacturer of coating and wood treatment products. Application: Raw materials input to mixers and final filtration on varnish filling lines. Problem:      They need to improve the filtration efficiency, reduce costs and eliminate bag filters. Solution:      Model 200 and 300 Self Cleaning Filters are now installed and being used to filter the varnish and other coatings directly                     before filling the cans prior to dispatch to the retail outlets. COURTAULDS FIBRES Company:     Courtaulds Fibres Application: Steam boiler fuel oil supply filtration required for the standby system, which is necessary to be switched into                     service at very short notice in case the regular heating source, which is gas, has a problem. The system is                     classified a critical application as the boilers provide steam to the main production plant and to the power                      generating turbines in the powerhouse. Problem:      Poor Housekeeping and system design which allowed the pressure and temperature to exceed above expectations                     resulting in the fuel oil overheating. Solution:     Airpel Duals Strainers, model OWO’s with 100% shut off were fitted on the suction and discharge sides of the pump.                    Viton seals were fitted to combat the operating temperature of 150°C. Two size of duals are used, a 2” (50mm) on the                    suction side and 1 ½  (40mm) on the discharge. The operating pressure is 18 bar G. DEUTACH BAHN AG, BERLIN (GERMAN RAILWAY) Company:    Deutach Bahn AG, Berlin (German Railway) Application: Precleaning/washing of Locomotives (engines). The filter is installed to retain impurities and protect the nozzles. Problem:     Initially a DUAL-FILTER was foreseen. He should have been equipped with an alarm showing necessary cleaning of                     the element. Easy maintenance without necessary special tools was an imperative. The required element should                     have the smallest possible perforation, which allows manual cleaning with a water hose. Solution:     Installation of an Airpel-Filter Model 600 self-clean filter with Differential Pressure Indicators + electrical read. Benefits:      Maximum reduced cost for controlling/supervising/service/maintenance. SOUTHERN WATER AUTHORITY Company:    Southern Water Authority Application: Filtering storm water to protect wash spray nozzles. Problem:     To protect spray nozzles that clean wash water band screen that protect booster set in the main pumping house                     that could be exposed to flooding. Solution:     Model 400 Fully Automatic Low Pressure Self Cleaning Filter installed. Cast Iron head/Stainless Steel bowl.                    Electrics to IP57. HEPWORTH BUILDING PRODUCTS Company:    Hepworth Building Products Application: Injection moulding machining cooling system. Problem:     They need to recycle the water through one common system. To supply 30 injection moulding machines. This                     replaced individual basket strainers on each machine which required manual cleaning on a regular basis. Solution:      Introduced a fully automatic model 300 Self Cleaning Filter with 200 micron elements filtering the recirculatory                     water supplying all machines. Benefits:      Individual filters removed. Reduced costs in labour and down time. More efficient and cost effective system. TECHPRO MINING AND METALLURGY Company:    Techpro Mining and Metallurgy. Application: Filtering Water used for coolant water in smelt factory. Problem:      Filtering must have 24 hour operation, 365 days per year to protect spray nozzles on coolant system. Solution:     Airpel 2" (50mm) OWWG Dual Strainer with 120 mesh Baskets installed. Fitted with Differential Pressure Indicators with DIN                    Switches. HONDA CARS (BELGIUM) Company:    HONDA CARS (Belgium) Application: Thermal Oil Water recuperation in a de-wax installation; cars coming from Japan need to be de-waxed (protection                     during transport) before sending them to the distributors; cleaning by using water, kerosene and wax under high                     pressure (15 bar); this results in a new, thin foil sticking to the cars for protection during transport to Belgian                     distributors; the fluid and fibres from the foil on the floor are removed with water that needs to be recycled through                     a filter. Order:          Dual filter OW/S/WB 2” (50mm)  fitted with Differential Pressure Indicators                     Degree of straining 1.6mm Problem:     Cleaning of installed Y-Type strainer cost too much time and small filtration surface results in too frequent cleaning. Problem:     To replace bag filters which apart from the high costs of replacement bags, the work environment was contaminated                     with spillage and fat products. Solution:     Introduced a fully automatic model 400 Stainless Steel Cleaning Filter for the removal of un-melted fat products,                    meat particulate and unwanted debris such as polythene wrappings. Degree of filtration is 1000 micron. Benefits:      Improved work environment reduced costs and more efficient filtration. BRITISH RAIL / RAIL TRACK Company:    British Rail / Rail Track Application: Filtering De-Icing solution. Problem:     De-icing solution held a ambient temperature in storage vessels at pumping station. All pipe work insulated.                    Solution is pumped into rail tankers that De-ice the rail tracks. Filtration required between pumps and tankers. Solution:     Airpel 4" (100mm) OWWB dual strainer installed with 80-mesh baskets. SOLVAY Company:    SOLVAY Application: Cleaning Water Thermal Oil, 160°C up to 180°C, 3m³/h and 7m³/h. Order:          2 self clean filters, type CF200 55155 LP 100 micron, with electromotor and Differential Pressure Switch. Problem:     Production of plastic hollow balls with a hole by means of injection of plastic on a metal core; these cores are                    afterwards melted at approx. 130°C with the thermal oil and flow out through the holes in the plastic ball; to remove                    these metal parts a filter has to be used before recycling the oil; the hollow balls are used in car engines to                    guide air into the cylinders. Solution:     A filter which allows a continuous process and guarantees a cleaning method that does not involve personal contact                    with the oil; i.e. a self cleaning filter with motor and Differential Pressure switch after being used successfully in SOLVAY-sites in                    France, USA, etc.. for similar applications, now these two filters will be installed in Germany. Benefits:     Continuous operation due to cleaning without disruption of flow.                    Safety due to a closed filtration system without danger of contact with the hot oil.                    Environmentally friendly due to no product loss during cleaning and draining.                    Cost reducing due to no loss of oil, saving man-hours on operation and maintenance, no waste products (e.g. bags).
